I've been remiss in getting a monthly wrap-up email out to all of you, with no excuses. After the most recent TAC Board meeting, however, I was reminded again of the vital importance of communications. As told to me as a young lieutenant a long time ago by a Chief: "you can never communicate too much". So with this refocus, here is the first of several monthly notes I'll send out. Let me know if it's useful.
This month’s wrap-up contains a few interesting items I hope increase your knowledge of what’s happening across the District, and beyond.
TAC Board Meeting: I had the opportunity to attend the Council Board meeting on 28 January at Ramstein AB, Germany. All I can say is that your Council Board is very active and focused on keeping the Council solvent and well supported. They understand the importance of delivering the Promise of Scouting. Here a few highlights:
Friends of Scouting: It's time for the annual Friends of Scouting campaign. The District’s goal is $30,000, which works out to about $25 per Scout for the 1,289 registered across our 43 units. As you know, it takes money to deliver the Promise of Scouting. I can say from having sat on the Council Board since last March, the Council isn’t flush with cash and how this impacts all of us is the ability to keep the program vibrant. Take advantage of upcoming Webelos cross-over or Court of Honor ceremonies to share the opportunity to contribute with all parents and guardians. Contact Rodney Henk to get your hands on the FOS contribution forms, or use the following link to donate now. Go to http://tac-bsa.kintera.org/Friends-of-Scouting and donate now.
Also, the Council is advertising the following: What happens when you combine FOS and Normandy? Awesome patches! A donation of $125 will receive the US flag CSP and a donation of $500 will receive the entire CSP set.
District Roundtable: It takes place every month on the 3rd Wednesday at 8pm virtually. Registration is always open and you can access it via here. The big rock topic for February is Order of the Arrow with our Chapter Chief and Advisor(s).
Training Opportunities - NYLT and Wood Badge Registration: The Council is running both courses this summer the week of 7 - 12 August 2017.
If you have any questions of your Key 3, don’t hesitate to send us an email:
